If you have straight hair- Pull the top half of your hair back and secure it with a big shiny (rhinestones?) barette or one that matches your dress. It's simple but super-elegant.

If you have curls- (Personally I love the goddess updo, but if you insist on having it down......) on one side of your hair, take a piece from behind the ear and twist it and pin it back. Put a flower in the twist towards the back. (You can also twist and pin back both sides if you like, but I think it looks more elegant to just do one and let the other curl into ringlets).

Personally as a hairstylist, I think the more formal the dance, the fancier it should be. So down for homecoming, and up for snow ball, and prom. Thats just my opinion. Especially with off shoulder dresses , its just sexier that way....UP !!!! or at least 1/2 up with some curls at differents sizes spiraled in and maybe a couple of twists in the front.

For straight or wavy hair:

1. Use large hot rollers to accentuate the waves in your hair.
2. Separate your hair into a top half and a bottom half.
3. Pull the top half back into a low half-ponytail, and secure it at the back of your head with a butterfly barrette.

For curly hair:

1. Create a two-inch-wide section of hair that runs from the center your hairline to the crown of your head. Starting at the front of your head, twist the section of hair towards the back, securing it at the center of the back of your head with two bobby pins.
2. Repeat this action to create two identical twists two inches to the left of and two inches to the right of the center twist.

For any hair type:

1. Use a medium-barrel curling iron to create loose waves throughout your hair.
2. Brush the hair back from the center of your forehead with a pearl comb, securing it at the top of your head.

Hope I helped!! Good luck and have a great prom!!
