cause they are in a bar shape....u know like a bar..gold bar...chocolate bar...bar of soap...all kind of the same shape...oh...wait were u talkin bout a bar- bar?

Bars= Saloons-Places where alcohol is served as the main consumable are called Bars because in the old days like(1800s).
When you go into a saloon, you would step up to the bar to get your drink. The bar refered to was a usually brass bar or rail that you could put your foot on that ran the length of the counter. No bar stools back then, mostly because the customers liked to use them to brawl with other customers, and they took up to much room. Besides the "bar" was cheaper and was bolted to the floor.
