I believe that the older I've gotten the more I've realized I am not in control of many things. This realization can cause some to conclude that someone else (an all-powerful being perhaps) is in control. Personally, it's caused me to seek true knowledge, adapt to the things I have no control over, and mature.

No, i get completely the opposite.

The older i'm realising the more damage, the more unrest, the more deaths are caused by religion.

How many wars, how many bombs, how much terrorism, how may innocent babies die every day in this world, if there was a God then i'm sure he would say that people who worship him are not doing what he asked of them.

I have more and more anger to religions now than ever and particulally people who preach to me about what they belive.

If there is a God, he has an awful lot to answer for.

Oh, and it is not probable the religions fault it is the those that are against the religion. you do no longer see Christians or Jews saying "this desires to be a Christmas party" or "no it would be a Hanukkah party".it is the those that say make it fare for each individual.Political Correctness has gotten out of hand for each individual!!!

The human animal gets more stubborn as it gets older which as a result would make them more devout and set in their ways.To the second part of your question I do not get more paranoid because I dont believe in an afterlife death is a concern because if I die I cannot live life as well as punish my enemies

No. You get to come to your senses and know that god is a silly notion by ancient people perpetrated by those choosing to exploit it for financial gain. You realize how laughable the fairy tales of the bible are through wisdom. Atheists are only paranoid of the religious fanatics causing all the war in the world right now.

I was brainwashed christian as a child and as I got older and wiser, I became an atheist. I only get paranoid if I have a reason like of bears and mountain lions if I am sleeping in the woods.

I have observed this in older people, presumably hedging their bets as they approach the exit.
I am about half way and over the recent years I have become even more convinced that Atheism is the true path.

There is no reason to get paranoid.I'm getting on in years & have been Atheist since my teens.I believe death to be a state of non-existence,the same as before conception,so what is there to fear?I feel sorry for religeous people, they are told what they can & cannot eat or drink, get conned out of their hard-earned money,& have the fear of damnation drummed into them,& when they die, they are just as dead as i will be.

i will quote my dad on this - he's 74.... when asked why he reads and prays so much. besides the fact that he now has more time to devout to learning and prayer (he retired and kids are grown)

"i'm studying for my final exam". : )

** ** **
i know i personally have - i finally realized that the life i had been living was not what i really wanted or needed and i was just not happy. once i turned my life around and started learning more and in a more stable relationship with Christ - life became more real. i'm still working at it and sometimes i stumble - i just don't stumble to the extent where i'm embarassed or disgusted with myself int he morning!!
