Tesos is great, they have the recycling bin for plastic bags plus you get one point on your club card every time you reuse a bag in store or if you use your own...plus at my local Tesco they have a board saying how many plastic bags have been recycled over the past week and month. It's quite scary how many plastic bags can be recycled in one store, over 30,000 last month at my local! I'm sure that can be increased as well! As Tesco say...every little helps. I love re-using my fabric bags from Asda, they're stronger and don't dig into your fingers as much as a heavy plastic bags :-)

*Charity shops often accept plastic bags for re-use as long as they are clean.
*If you use your own bags e.g. cloth bags produced by some charities or long-life bags produced by supermarkets, you will have to use fewer new bags and may get 'green' points from Tesco.
*Using plastic bags from the Co-operative supermarkets can help because they are biodegradable and will break up after a few months.
*Stop supermarket shopping and use your local high-street/village shops; take a shopping bag with you and tell them you don't need another bag.
*Recycle any unused bags at your local supermarket - there is uaually a bin near the front entrance.

Where I live in the US we don't have a plastic bag recycling facility. I use cloth bags I purchased at a local coop, they don't cost much and they'll last for ages. Also, some stores give you credit for each bag of your own that you use. If I end up with plastic bags, I use them for doggy duty! =)

Simple - start using reusable cloth bags instead. Tesco give you an extra clubcard point if you use your own bags!
Also, i think Somerfield and Sainsbury's do a recycling box. And you could always take them to be used at a charity shop, jumble sale or even the health food store (our health food store does this).
Since I started with my cloth bags, my house isn't littered with bags anymore :-)

Take them to your local Tesco or B & Q.
Also the CO-OP have bags that decompose within 18 months.

I use mine in my pedal bins. Saves buying pedal bin liners. Otherwise recycle them with plastics.

You could ask at the council offices, if that don't work, start to burn a few, there will be some one there in a flash and then you can ask him.
