Your going through puberty and probably PMS. Cut down on your sugar and salt intake. That might help. You need to try and control the moodiness. Your parents are trying to deal with you growing up and coming into your own. Just try and cut down on the crankiness and griping and they might also.

Hmmm.that sucks. I'm the moodiest person when it comes to getting my period. I'm 32 and ya know...growing up and being your age is NOT EZ....you are goin through a lot of changes both physically and emotionally....I don't know what your relationship is like with your parents...but if you fell you are able to talk and it's a supportive family...I would take as a mature approach as possible......Just be honest and tell em you don't understand why you are so moody and you are going through changes and don't WANT to be mean, but you don't know what to do and ask them for support....maybe yer mom can take you shopping or buy you some chocolate or something.....
13 is a tough age...and being a woman is tougher when dealing with hormonal stuff...but it does help to talk about it...hope this helps

Everyone is affected differently when it comes to menstrual cycles. I have 12 year twins daughters and one of them has started her period. She gets pretty moody sometimes too so don't think you are alone in this. As for your parents, don't be too hard on them. They love you more than life itself and sometimes when you get me and moody, they take it personally and it breaks their heart. If it gets to out of control, please see your doctor and maybe they can prescribe something to help you through that time of the month. I know this time of your life is pretty tough with all the hormones and life changes but just hang in there and know things will get better. I promise.

I know a girl who is in her period off and on. She was rel nice when i met her, but when shes on the period, shes kinda grumpy... If your parents yell at you for being mean, tell them! 100% of earth population that have gotten to the age of 13 have passed through it s tell them.

Hi Tiffany F,

Yeah, hormones play a big part of a girl's mood swing, but you may have a more serious problem. Maybe you should ask your folks to see a doctor and ask him about that. Maybe you're bi-polar, or have some kind of chemical imbalance, and you need to take some medication to keep yourself at a regular level. I don't know, but you need to see an expert to see what can be done.

Good luck.

You admit that you are mean to your parents so if you are being mean to them how will it help to tell them to stop yelling at you?

The problem with society as I see it.... People expect perfection from everyone but themselves.

We can't expect others to be nice to us if we are being mean to them. So I suggest you quit making excuses for your meanness and start treating your parent's nicer.
