You already stated that this isn't a 50/50 relationship. You treat your younger sister like your daughter. You need to remember that as a sister you don't have the authority to expect her to do anything for you. IT WOULD BE NICE AND RESPECTFUL if she would, but, obviously, she isn't very respectful of you. I don't know how old she is, but, she might be in a rebellious stage ( and these last forever ).

Bottom line, you can't make anyone do anything that they don't want to. It seems that she might co-operate better with you if you bribe her with some of those things that you would have normally just would have done for her.

Good luck.

I'm the youngest in my family. So I can kinda see how maybe she'd be like that. When my sisters want to do something I never say no though.

I'd say you should ask your sister to work with you. She could go hang out and do something that she likes and you could do something you like for awhile. Tell her that you like spending time with her but sometimes you wanna do some stuff for yourself. Depending on how old she is and her maturity level will determine if she'll understand you or not though.

So break it down for her and most of all-be nice about it! Good luck.

You think she is stupid now. But when you two get older, you will forget the bad times and remember the great times. Trust me, i'm the youngest of five, when i was 9 I always would be annoyed by my brothers. But now I'm 14, and my brothers and sisters are all 20 years or older. Now they live in other cities, and I actually wish sometimes they were in the ame house

it's not a 50/50 relationship. it's a 100/100 relationship.
just because you give doesn't mean you can expect her to. you give within your means and she will do the same.
you would probably be better to make deals with her or say, 'remember when i took you out and bought you those clothes, well now i would like you to do something for me.' but you can't say, 'i'm going to do this and later i want you to do something for me.' be specific with her so she knows what to expect.
also if you tote around the attitude that 'little sisters are stupid' you are not as likely to have any luck with her.

Don't do anything for her anymore. My little sister is a brat, so I just don't even try to be nice!

Kids really don't know better. Most kids are selfish and inconsiderate for anyone but them selves. Just set a good example and she'll learn.
