Ok back in high school I used to be able to sleep for a short amount of time and still be able to go to school. Think like 5 or 6 hours averaged the whole school year. But, now that I'm in college and because my classes don't start until much later; I've been having this problem with just getting a normal amount of sleep. I try to get 7 or 8 hours now, but instead I feel bad when I wake up and it's actually really hard just to wake up if I wanted to, I always end up going back to bed for some ridiculous amount of time like 10+ hours. What the hell should I do? I'm not accustomed to this.

Your body is changing, you are under a lot more stress lately, and its hard to get into a routine. Start by eating a healthy breakfast, EVERYDAY, stay away from caffeine in the evenings. Its going to take a bit of adjustment for you to settle into a more normal routine, although being in college, I dont think there is such a thing as "normal"..just kidding. Seriously though, you are going to have to go about this pretty aggressively. Set a bedtime for yourself, a reasonable one and stick to it no matter what, just until you can get yourself squared away. Whatever time you normally or ideally want to get up, do it too. Even on weekends. Stick to this schedule. It might take a few weeks, but your body will accustom itself to its new routine. I have had to retrain my internal clock so many times over the years due to my job, and this method has worked everytime. Good luck!!

well, when i sleep longer than i am accustomed, i tend to feel like i was ran over by a truck, adn then i want to go back to sleep. but if i sleep the right amount of time, i wake feeling refreshed. also, keep in mind that your body needs time to adjust to more stress....more studying, more deadlines, more in depth thinking, more balancing....try sleeping for 6 or 7 hours, adn having a nap at aroung 2 or three...or even 5, for only 1 hour. see if that helps. also, get your thyroid checked, which may be affecting your body clock. also, if you are in a different time zone, take that into consideration.

But you could be different so get a check up because diabeties is a sign of tiredness as well and the aul ticker may need a check. Just to be safe eliminate these probabilities. You may be too stressed out so chill a bit if u can..

napping issues are often brought about through issues that are correctible. attempt those... a million.) starting up at 5pm, no caffeine till now bedtime (11pm). 2.) devour dinner no later than 8pm. 3.) Sounds like you're not sleeping deeply enough to get rested. Avoid caffiene (I know...VERY rough on a college student) and try to start going to bed at the same time every night. See if you can find Melatonin in the vitamin aisle too. A friend of mine tried that and said it worked very well for her.
