My predicament: I love salad, but lettuce never really last that long in my refridgerator, so my only option is to eat salad like a nut for the next three days until it is gone. Can I freeze a bag of lettuce and then let it thaw out and use it or will there be some sort of health risk slash terrible taste to deal with?

No, you can't freeze lettuce unless you want to give it to your pet Hamster or Guinea Pig. Do you live out in the Tundra somewhere and can't get to a grocery store every 3 or 4 days? I buy organic Romaine lettuce hearts in a 3-pak that lasts a whole week. Fresh produce should be kept in the bottom part of your fridge...it's the coolest area.....if you pre-wash your lettuce, make sure you dry it very well before storage. BTW: Iceberg lettuce will keep for about 10 days or so.....the more fragile varieties should be purchased as needed or only as much as you will consume over a 3-4 day period.

Lettuce does not freeze very well but you could try it. You will probably find that it has become much less crispy but there is certainly no health risk attached to freezing it. I would give it a try and see.

When you buy lettuce, wash and dry it well. Put it in a big ziplock with a paper towel to absorb the moisture. It stays crisp and fresh longer this way.

Unfortunately, no. Well, you could try it and you'll see what it looks like. You wouldn't want to eat it. Too much water content in lettuce.

Unless you want soggy lettuce....don't freeze it, lettuce is predominantly water....so freezing it would just ruin it.
