The Canadian shield covers a lot of different areas. There is a lot of mining though.

In Flin Flon Manitoba, until recent years, there was enough Canadian shield that sewage/water pipes were above ground. You could walk the town on top of them. The new subdivisions have them in ground...but it is really neat.

I'm not sure what you mean by "live" though. They eat and drink the same food as the rest of Canada, go to work and live and die too. :) Everything is just normal to them.

The Canadian shield is a region that covers a large part of Canada and parts of the northern US around the Great Lakes. The southern part has forests and cities like Quebec. The main industries are farming, mining, forestry, and tourism. The northern part is tundra, snow, and ice. Traditional living of the Inuits populations in the north would include hunting and fishing.
