My boyfriend is 24, and has a daughter, the ex and him seperated last year, a few months ago he moved back in with his mom after his dad passed away just to help with bills. His mom had never really worked, so it was hard to take on all of the bills by herself, he decided he would help her until she had got finished getting her RN license. His sister is 22, and is a drug head, and also lives with her mom she doesn't work and doesn't do anything but pawn and sell things. Lastnight, his sister disappeared stole some money, and went to buy drugs. When my boyfriend got home lastnight, his sister was smoking a crack pipe...his sister swallowed something....just so noone would take it away from him...my boyfriend was going to take his sister to the hospital but he refused to go. My boyfriend had to call the cops...and they had to take her to the ER and now everyone is mad at my boyfriend and saying that everything is his fault?? is it? he feels guilty

It most certainly is not his fault that his sister choose to ingest these drugs and he had to have her removed and taken to the hospital. Hopefully someday this little girl will grow up and change her behaviour and substance use. If this eve happens I'm sure that at this time she will thank her brother for the help, love and support that he gave her during her time of confusion. Your boyfriend sounds like a very responsible young man and I'm also certain that his mother appreciates all the help he is trying to give her.

It is NOT his fault - calling the cops is the right thing to do in that case. The sister has a HUGE problem and whatever comes with that problem she has only brought onto herself. If they don't think what he did was right, the best advice I could give him is to get out of that situation. So what if that leaves his mom in a mess??? She obviously don't care what he is doing to help her out. She would rather choose the druggie sister over him. Plus it is not good for his daughter to be exposed to that kind of situation in general (when she comes to visit). He should give his mother an ultimatum that either the druggie sister leaves or he leaves - perhaps then she will realize who is the real help and who is making a mess of their life.

His fault for what? Saving her life? Of course the drug abuser is going to try and make this (and anything unpleasant) out to be someone else's fault. If she had died, it would have been much worse. I wish you and your boyfriend the best of luck.

No, it's not his fault. It's good that his sister is finally going to get the help she needs...

Based on what you've said, I don't see anything that would make me think this is his fault. There may be more to the story that you aren't aware of.
