He is 2 yrs old and I rescued him from a neglectful owner about 2 weeks ago. His fur was falling out because of fleas and his mouth had sores, he was malnourished and very badly treated. Now that I have him he is doing very well, he is very sweet. He is white with black ears and a black tail. Medium length fur. I want to give him a strong name he can be proud of and to give him a start on his new life, any suggestions?

I have had cats forever, always rescued. I have also always given them "people" names. I would observe them for a while to get an idea of their personality and strong attributes. When stumped for a name, I have often checked out those baby name sites so I could find the perfect name. Most even have a lot of foreign names too with the meanings.

Phoenix is a good name, I had a black and white cat that we called Pandora because she looked like a cross between a panda and an oreo cookie, But she was a girl.

KISA, means cat in Russian. Heard that name on an Animal Planet program that they had given to a Siberian Lynx. Beautiful, powerful animal

I like Hottie's answer because I have a black and white cat named Oreo. Another black and white one (they are the best to have) named Meeko. But I say Simba.

Lucky is a good name for a rescued cat.

You might also consider Mister Lucky.

I have known quite a few male animals in my life that were called Mister _________. Mister tended to be their name, but it's a good name. Sounds good on the tongue.

Griffin. It's actually a bird that rose from the ashes. But it is strong, and represents a new beginning, and I think it's kinda cute for a cat.
