It is a conspiracy between the hotdog and bread manufacturers. Bread manufacturers secrectly pay a portion of the proceeds on extra bun packs to the hotdog companies.

I usually buy 2 eight packs of hotdogs and a 12 pack of buns.

Then there are 4 hotdogs without buns for me and my nephew:-)

If you could count, you would notice that almost all hotdogs are sold in packs of eight. Ignorance is bliss!

they could be different company's and one company could care less about how many hot dogs or buns each is selling.
