I say time for an MRI, I had knee pain for 13 yrs, doctor kept saying it was trick knee, 4 sets of xrays over the years.....all normal, finally switched doctors, she did an MRI, I have severe Chrondromalchia Patella, which means my cartiledge is disinegrating, and they also found arthritis and a Bakers cyst. So all those years of pain, which is now 19 yrs of pain, are explained. So I do suggest an MRI or other diagnostic test. Pain pills are a mask, they do not alleviate the problem, get to the root of the pain, then it can be treated appropiately.

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain.
