No one has answered this question properly. The culprit is phosphoric acid. Unlike organic acids, phosphoric acid cannot be metabolized and instead has to be neutralized with the body's calcium. Don't drink soft drinks/pop/soda/etc. Drink water instead.

YES soft drinks have chemicals which stop us from absorbing calcium from the food we eat so the calcium level goes down gradually and finally osteoporosis sets in meaning weak brittle bones.

First u know what do u mean soft drink', as it is advertised,Nothing is soft or hard ,it all subjective,depends on variety of variables,in numerable variations,None has .all forth right answer ,neither it is time tested for all condition,starvation,aplenty,malnourished people,what is bad for a few may not prove to be true for that region who never have a square meal a day.Worlds most death occurs not by cancer,Aid,Mall aria,etc,etc,But by hunger.To day there R nearly 850 mill in people who die because of hunger,if u judge the answer,what u have put in this site hardly any relevance to the total gamut of situation,there cant be any generalised answer.Ungentle what one can perceive is awfully bad may be very good for the people who does have any thing to eat

Because soft drinks Contains a Harmful substance known as "caffeine" Which can destroy our hardest part in our mouth.That is "ENAMEL".When we drink it will also enter the body through certain blood vessels.These also will get harmful to our health.These harmful substance may also destroy our Bones continuously And lead to some unknown disease.

yes, the carbonated water in soft drinks effects your body's ability to absorb calcium in a negative way, that's why I don't give my kids a lot of it because its important time in their development, important for aging women to watch out for too because of osteoporosis
