Man in general turned away from God, so God had Noah build the ark to save the animals and anyone that would trust in God, only 8 people trusted God.
Before the flood there was a water (ice) shield over our atmosphere, and there was water under the earth surface. In the flood, the ice shield broke (causing the polar ice caps, there was none before) and the water was released from under the earth, flooding all the land (the earth was flater before the flood, as the water came out from under the ground the land sank in places, making the hills much higher today).
We are still feeling the effects of the flood today (ice caps melting, earth quakes because of the settling to the ground).
In general God did not promise to save Christians from all things that happen on earth (although He does to some degree), He promised that He would be with those that believe Him and to give them strenght.
We do not always know when we are going to die, many people die in a few seconds. Even those that take several minutes to die are not use to thinking of God, so they do not even try and call on God. And God will not be mocked, for He said "what soever a man soweth, that shall He reap". If a person puts off serving God, there is no promise that God is going to hear a person when they first turn to God, it some times takes at least days (if not longer) to come to repentance. In the Bible it talks about Joana being swalled by a fish. It took Him 3 days before He came to the proper place so that God could forgive him.

The unsolved mysteries of life. Religion is something personal that everyone believes, obviously we always question God's existance and why things happen, usually bad, to us, to the world, etc, but thats something that would be a mystery to us and we should think the reason why those things happen though most of the time it seems extremely nonsense. Things happen for a reason and we've got to find that reason. I actually don't know what to say about those people that a minute before their last breath they change their religion when their whole life they've been believing something else, they have their reasons and they are the only ones that know what to believe in and not. If men knew the answers to your questions then it would probably be a mess, so better leave religion as something that someone personally believes and have their own thoughts and reasons, so as men don't get in the way, if not everthing would be destroyed. Good question though, and wish you luck.

God allows suffering to test us. If life here was perfect, how could we show that we really loved God? It would be another heaven. There would be no point in having a heaven.
As to your other question. I know people who are "successful and living a great life" according to this world who are not happy. I've heard conversion stories. They struggle with themselves. Those who do God's will for them are happier than anyone who avoids him their entire lives. If you lived your whole life in a way that God forbids, then "converting" at the last minute, it probably isn't a true conversion. And how do you know how you'll die? What if you die of a heart attack or in a car accident? You won't have time to "convert" or even truly repent. If that's the way you want to live, fine, but I prefer to live a holy and good life and so spend my eternity with God.
God Bless you.

Attention All People:
GOD is NOT in Control of Everything.
(HE will be Soon).
I don't care What you have heard Religiously, GOD dosen't Controll Everything to the n'th Degree on This Earth, at this Time.
(GOD didn't Controll everything in Heaven to the n'th degree Either--satans Fall from Heaven?--)
We (Human Beings were given Authority to Controll Everything with our Free-Wills.) are Basically in Controll of the Earth--for a Season--with GOD Trying to Help Whenever WE Let HIM.
Heaven is a Planet, Straight up North of Planet Earth--GOD Zillions of Miles (hahaha) away.
If you are Following STRICT Christian Rules, you are into a Religion.
When you Walk with the Truth (Jesus) the Truth sets you Free from All Bondages.
To Clear up this Point:
When you Walk with Jesus Closely, you will Just Naturally know what to do and what not to do, it just Happens that way. The Holy Spirit will help you Know what is Right and What is Wrong.
Hope this Helps.

Thanks for the honest question, Sam. Actually, it is a great question.
First, God is love and is certainly nice. Think about all the sin we create. We disobey him. We don't trust him. We reject and mock him. Yet, he has provided us with a free gift of salvation, through Jesus. All we need do is believe, accept, repent.
This is not the world God intended, but is the result of sin and disobedience towards him. God often intervenes and answers prayer but yes, there is a lot of suffering. That is further proof, for me, of the need for God. We have been given free will and choice - because that is true love - God could never force us to love him or intervene in every single problem we have - that isn't love.
Some people will convert right before death, and God accepts this. Actually, there are parables in the Bible about this very issue. People who know God and trust him long to live a good life because he is our father and we like someone we love, we long to please him.
Christianity is NOT about strict rules - it is about grace, love, forgiveness and a personal relationship with our creator.
Have a great day!

Maybe God is doing those people that die a favor. Heaven is made to be more pleasant than Earth. If you will suffer on Earth for your lifetime, wouldn't that be more unpleasant than a swift and violent death?
I am sure that Christians feel that they ARE living the best life as Christians. So, why wait to convert?

When my best friend, cousin, died when he was only 20 (terrible accident), and I was 17, I started asking myself this question as well. In my prayers I was asking God 'well, if you are so good, then why did you let this happen, why do I need to suffer'. Since then, I am no more blindly religious, but have freed myself. One answer to your question might be that we commit sins, therefore we are punished, so disasters happen. No difference I think if you are Christian (I am one). Good point, if heaven is so special, really then why everyone does not convert to Christianity and get themselves ticket to mighty heaven? I guess Christians do not rush to heaven (i.e. commit suicide), because God does not allow that. Is there heaven? Maybe, for me it represents a place where I will meet my beloved cousin again, as well as my grandfather who died in 1952. That is how I see heaven.

There are so many questions, I will address one statement at a time.
'God is nice'. Nice is extra creme on a latte. In the Chronicles of Narnia, Aslan, who is a metaphorical image of Christ, is questioned about of someone, "Isn't he safe?" The response is, "Safe? Of course he isn't safe. But he is good!"
'if there even is a God'. Hebrews 11:6 So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
'deaths God could stop' The age of grace is puzzling to those who dance in the temporal realm. Death is defeated. The manifestation is after the milinial reign of Christ.
'God controls everything' No, he has limited himself, but all things are limited by His boundaries. Cause and effect are operational.
'bad things happen to christians too' Don't I know it. We still reap what we sow. We still are affected by our environment.
'just before dying' + 'live the best life' Are you implying that the best life is anything other than obedience to Christ? Are you implying a life of sin? I can't discern what you are implying. You have to realise that God wants what is best for YOU, not what he can punish you with.
'convert to Christ' + 'follow strict rules' When you come to Christ, he makes no demands on you. He gives His Holy Spirit to you to guide you on your jouney. To come to him is simple.
For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
Romans 10:9,10
At that point you have so much joy that what the Holy Spirit requires of you is easy.

god doesnt stop them, becuase satan is testing god too. he is waiting for the right moment to say, "ha, they just love you because you do all that nice crap for them!"
but God wont let him say that.
trust me, you have no idea what kinda bad thongs im going through (adventist, pretty much a chritian)
and to that thong bout converting before you die, well u cant do that, because you wouldnt fully understand the whole point of Jesus and all. but thatw as a good question. i wondered that before too.
yes, chritians are strict, but i never really noticed, its just the old ppl that are strict. ya, i curse a lot, in english and italina, and i do regret it after, because i know it makes god sad, u can still ahve fun and be a chritian, but i guess it depends on what kind of fun. well see, my unckle drinks, smkes, us to do drugs, looks at porn and all that crap, but i guess he calls that fun. but it still makes God sad.
and to that thn bout where is heaven, no one really knows, o. have u hear bout that thing where scientist think they found the end of the universe. they say they saw like all this white stuff where they thought the end of the universe was, but thats just a new one,, God has other perfect planets. but we will enver eally know where heaven is til we get there

~~ Sam, keep asking these important questions and scrutinize their answers. Do not accept an answer that someone ( a prophet) said was The Truth,,, or because of someone's Demand that you have "Faith". No Religion can stand up against honest inquiry! Study what the Great Thinkers have said, then draw your own conclusions as your intellect progresses and your understanding widens. Question Authority!~
