This method will only give you about 1 month. If you go on antibiotics it will stop the pain. The pain is due to infection and has to be dealt with prior to the root canal anyway. A lots of times the Dentist will just remove the first root and put a temporary filling on it. Ask the Dentist if you can pay a bit and the rest upon completion. If he won't then go to another Dr. or the College of Dentistry, as a lot of time they will work on your mouth at a reduced rate. This work is done by students with the supervision of a Dentist. Good luck as a tooth ache is the worst.

I just needed a root canal and I do not have the money so I had mine pulled. If it is the last tooth in the back you can have it pulled. I got mine done last week and it was so worth it. There is no pain and I am so relieved. I dealt with it for three weeks until I could get seen. It only cost me $85 and it was so worth it. If this is not an option then start calling there has to be someone who can help you. Its the worst pain I know. Also calling 800 DENTIST is a good idea as they can tell you who is reputable.

Needing a root canal is probably when the tooth is at its worst. You either need to take care of it now and make payments (most dentists allow it), or get it pulled if it's really bad (if it's a back tooth) which will only cost a couple hundred bucks. The pain will just get worse and the tooth will continue to decay.

If the root is infected, it needs to be done right away. Talk to the dentist's office about it. They may be able to finance it or find another possibility.

If you don't treat the infection it can spread to the bone which can cause a lot of damage. Work out a payment plan with your dentist.

Well there really is no temporary cure. You can sometimes take antibiotics for a week or two but that is about the longest time that I would recommend waiting.

Try "Oragel" in gel form not the liquid it stays on the affected area longer. Other kinds like Ambesol burn really bad when you put it on., because they contain alcohol. Take Excedrin if she can tolerate the aspirin.

She might consider having the tooth pulled and then later have a partial made for the missing tooth.
