I have worked with the Red Cross and know that a lot of no-profit organizations do not have the infrastructure to distribute donated goods, it is easier and more effective for them to get cash donations and purchase items when needed. Also, I have seen stuff that gets donated by individuals, sometimes you can get some good things but most of the time we would end up throwing it away. I do not know any specific location to donate, but if you look into a church, homeless shelter, or ask the chamber of congress you should have no problem. Please for their sake, don't give them junk that you were just going to throw away, make it something they can use.
