A good family friend of our also has systemic lupus. She has not really found a way to "combat" the fatigue that she experienced. She tries to make sure that she does not "over do it" and that she makes sure that she gives herself plenty of time to rest. She finds that she does feel better after mild/moderate exercise...but she has learned what her limits are and that when she needs to rest, she knows that she has to.
You might want to try something along the lines of Yoga. It might help your endurance a bit and it will help relax you. You should check out your local YMCA or YWCA and see what they offer. I think that you could benefit from any type of mild exercise. My friend sure does!

Fatigue is an interesting animal. Related to Lupus, it is a little more complicated, however, here is the basics about feeling more energized. Our body creates energy through a metabolic process called cellular respiration. During this process, glucose is converted to ATP (the bodys usable form of energy) in a cell component called the mitochondria. CoQ10 helps to make the process of energy conversion more efficient and lucrative. A low glycemic diet also helps to ensure steady energy throughout the day. I have treated many using supplements and diet and they have all seen huge improvements in energy levels.

I also have Systemic Lupus and there is no way to "combat" the fatigue. When it hits you lay down and rest or sleep. I don't take drugs but if some are available the cure could be worse than the illness. I have rhuematoid arthrtis too and it also causes fatigue and they kinda go hand in hand.

Here's everything I know about fatigue: it takes regular sleep patterns, complex carbohydates(nuts, whole grains) and a change in environment(why vacations are good) to bring out the best in us. I'm sorry I have no experience with Lupus, have known people with it. Anti-oxidant vitamins help. I combine all of these things to make it work.
