They were called Macrame. Try googling that.

They are pretty much out of fashion now.

I loved them, very groovy! Another cool 60s/70s craft was called God's Eye (I think the Three's Company gang has one hanging in their apartment).

That would be called macreme' I did it in art class in high school it is not hard. You can probably find books on it in the local library

you can probably get instructions at any craft store. it's just a matter of knotting yarn in simple patterns. it's very easy.
