My dad was in status epilepticus and was taken by ambulance to the hospital which is a 45 minute drive. He was seizuring when he left the house and continued for over 1/2 hour at the hospital. They gave him loading doses of phenobarbitol, dilantin and the physician told me 17 mg of valium before he stopped. He was having a grandmal seizure that would not stop. He never seized before. He stopped breathing in the ambulance, so when I seen him the very 1st time, he was on a ventilator.
