I don't see an issue with it. After all, "Lucifer" was originally an angel of god...an achangel. If God saw fit to give an angel this name then I do not see why you couldn't give it to your child.

Lucifer is what is referred to as a poisoned name. Other poisoned names in history are Adolf and Ichabod. A poisoned name is a name that has popularity at one time, but due to some circumstances, people quit using it because of the association with a certain person or persons that have that name.
There are important issues to consider before giving someone such a name. I put some important links below. I have enough struggles because my last name is a common first name. People call me the wrong name all the time. I would never want to be named something that has a bad association like Lucifer.

I See you already know Lucifer means "bringer of light " in fact it was once used as a name for matches i think it sounds like a good name
however their are many ignorant people in this world ,can you immagine what a hard time he will have at school
their are other names with gfood meanings which may be a better choice .after all your son is the one who will have to live with it

undesirable call. Why did no longer he basically call him devil, or Damien, for crying out loud! while the toddler is eighteen, he will have the criminal good to alter his call, and his mum and dad can have not have been given any say in that count. yet until eventually that factor, I choose him success. Oh, and the daddy will proceed to get "hate" from others by using the toddler's lifetime for the comparable reason as they "hate" him now for doing that. GOD BLESS the toddler! Have a "toddler" day.

there is nothing wrong with naming your child lucifer just realize you are opening him up to a world of teasing depending on where you live. there are negative connotations that are associated with the name.
i work with many people who have changed their names or shorten them as they were given a name that does not sit well in the business world.

you want your "kids to have a name that means something"?? it's your right! go ahead.
and what does the name lucifer mean to you? what do you hope it will bring to your son? envision your kids life with that name knowing how others feel about that name. now i know you're not supposed to care what others think, but he will have to have extremely strong character to live with it and all it brings his way.
all i can say, is good luck to your son!

Look, if you want to name your child a name most people associate with evil, chaos, confusion, rebellion, hatred and darkness, go ahead but expect your child to bear the brunt and like it or not, he will. Funny how you think people who name their kids "Prince" are idiots!
BTW, I personally wouldn't name my child Jesus either.

If you think it's a pretty name, then you should name your child that. There's no reason why you can't. Do keep in mind, though, that he will probably have to deal with unkind comments about it for most of his life.

Lucifer is the devil's name.
Usually, people name their child Jesus, but they pronounce it like you would in Spanish (Hey-sus)

actually most christian people would find it offensive for you to use Jesus for your sons name. But don't name his Lucifer unless you want to absoulutly destroy his life. Anyone named that will always be stared at,having devilish qualities applied to him.
