I am german, and I love my country. The language is a bit hard to learn, because of the grammar.
My hubby understands everything I say, but has problems with the pronounciation. If you want to learn your best bet is a cd that has spoken word, also.
German looks a lot different than what it sounds like.

I think German is one of the easiest languages to learn. I know that's pretty much contrary to what everyone else says, but I'm also fluent in French and Italian. Out of all the languages I've studied, German was the easiest because it's the most like English. It's also really fun!

It was always the first foreign language I wanted to learn. I admire German culture, music and art and literature. I admire and am amazed by the turbulent German history and even more by the emergence of the nation and people from all sorts of disasters and cataclysmic events. And I like the warmth and hospitality of the (majority, not all!) Germans.
Believe me, if it were not for these factors, why in the world would I bother trying to learn a language which has such a complex grammar, such strict rules about word order and syntax plus those darned "der, die, das" declensions...ha ha, just kidding....Es lebe die deutsche Sprache!

Frankly, if I hadn't grown up with it, I probably wouldn't bother to learn it, because it's so full of exceptions and weird stuff. But it is a nice language, and pretty unmistakeable. It can be quite useful when you're traveling in Europe.

Kind of hard to learn because of all the different endings on adjectives and the multiple words for male vs. female things.
