I was copying and pasting notes from the notes section of a Powerpoint presentation on to a word document and suddenly this strange backwards P symbol appeared on each and all of the lines on my wors document. Even worse it has applied it to all my word documents. I don't know how to rectify this! Please help as I am worried I have damaged all my documents. I can't delete these backward P symbol things. Also I found when typing on a Microsoft word document when I press the space button a full stop appears. I really hope someone can help me!!

There is no backward p symbol in my toolbar. Also this P thing is not normal because I have never had it before and it is causing full stops to appear when I press the space button.

Look at your toolbar at the top of the screen, you should see a box with the strange symbol, click it, and it will turn it off. Let em know if this works.

Take a look at your Standard toolbar in Word. The button third from the right looks like a backwards P. This is the "Show/Hide" button and you currently have it switched "on".
If you do not have the Standard toolbar displayed select View from the Menu bar, then Toolbars from the dropdown list. Then select Standard.
Hope that helps!

Its just to help with editing, just go to Tools -> Options -> go to View tab -> Under the Formatting Marks section, untick everything. That should hide all of them.
The idiot that said "Re-install Word" is a tool. Why would you say that about something just because you don't understand? You sound like a stupid F from the help desk. You should be flayed, better yet, we should just kill you and reincarnate you to see if that fixes the problem. I want to Joe Pesci you're head, and then DeNiro on it while your bleeding on the ground.

they are non printing characters, they wont show up on anything you send away, they are common throughout word, powerpoint and publisher.
as stated before, it means that you hit the return key and thats the end of paragraph mark. there is a separate symbol for everything you just dont normally see them. very useful for editing.

this strange symol is called show hide. if you locate it on your tool bar and click on it, it will go away. dont worry about it as it has not made any changes to your documents. this is a helpful tool to show you easily where all your spaces are and the beginning or end of paragraphs and line spacing.

Turn on the ruler. Little window right side or go to view. At the top you will see 'breakers' or stops. Drag them to the appropriate length for your document.
