Apparently during the night it can break a lot of your hair, and it cant be that comfortable for sleeping really.

It depends on what you are using to keep your hair in a ponytail. With your hair already weakened from the relaxer, I would recommend that you tie it back with something soft like a scarf or a piece of yarn - anything as long as it isn't tight and stressing your hair. Try not to always put the ponytail holder in the same place on your hair either.

Only if it is a tight ponytail with metal bits. If its tight it will strech the hair and then snap it off. The metal stuff is awful as it rips your precious hair out! If you must tie your hair back do it in a loose braid. This also stimulates a little more hair growth.

Yes. You will start to experience hair loss at your forehead and temples because the ponytail keeps constant tension on the roots of your hair. That tension causes the roots to loosen and results in thining hair. Take a look at the hair loss of some of the young gymnasts that wear their hair in a ponytails.

I actually sleep with my hair up in a ponytail & I've yet to experience anything particularly... harmful...
Although I keep it in a low ponytail tied with a rubber band as to not harm the hair follicles. And the ponytail's loose btw.
Most importantly is to keep hair clean at all times because with dirty hair it does more harm than having to worry 'bout having it up in a pony!

My daughter used to sleep with her hair in a scrunchy most nights and eventually she had alot of damage and breaking of her fine hair. My aunt who owns a salon told her many times this would be the result, but you know kids!

I have very long hair and always sleep with it up un a pony tail. I've had no problem with breakage. You just have to be sure to not put it up so tight or it will break.

i don't think that it harms your hair but i wouldn't do it because if you want to ware it down the next day your hair will have a ponytail mark. And the only way i know to get he mark out is to either brush it A LOT or wet it & then comb it.

It is best to sleep with your hair out. When it is pulled in a ponytail there is too much tension on it.

No, it doesn`t harm your hair, but it makes it look all funny, plus it kind hurts when you wake up in the morning. I don`t think you should sleep with a ponytail.
