It depends on how young the son is. My son is 16 months and I give him kisses and hugs all day. I also call him many names such as "baby" or "honey" etc. I think that when he gets older, it will not so much "baby or "honey" as it will be "bud", "buddy", "dude". I imagine I will still call him sweet names. If it makes him uncomfortable when he's older, I would respect that and only use those words when I feel appropiate. So I feel it is absolutely ok if the developed relationship between father and son is a loving one.

Humm. I'd say ok to call a male baby 'Baby' not sure about honey. Now if he's a bit older then a small baby, like 3 or so, baby is to harsh. Honey then would be fine I guess, something though more masculine would be better.

Even though I am well over 50 years old, I am my fathers baby.
Calling a young man "honey/baby" is far different than treating him that way.

Usually Father's call their young son's by their first names, until they get upset then it is their first, middle and last name.
