what the person above failed to clarify is that Niepce made a positive print, not a negative which is reversed in tonality, and allows multiple prints to be made of the same image. Like the dagguereotype process, the process invented by Niepce only allowed 1 positive image to be produced. As aforementioned it was Talbot who figured out how to make multiple prints using a negative image as a template for reproduction.
