I saw some Muslims that did have turbans (or whatever they are called) on their avatars. So how come some others didn't? Are they ashamed of allowing their religion be visible to others?

I'm not trying to be "smart" with this so please don't take it the wrong way, lol. Only trying to spread knowledge!

Here's a turban (most commonly worn by Sikhs than by Muslims): http://www.sikhnet.com/TheSikhs/images/Sikh%20man%20with%20Green%20turban.jpg
Here is a hijab, the Muslim woman's headscarf:

This is called a niqaab (also known as a face veil):

This is a khimar, which is like a hijab, but much longer (usually waste or wrist length):

This is a burqa:

And these are some traditional headcoverings from different cultures (see if you know which are hijab, niqab, etc):

To answer your question, not all Muslim women wear the hijab. This is by personal choice and it takes more courage and strength (especially in the west and in Pakistan) to put one on than it does to leave it off. Check this answer: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ahki2Nr7BRXeDP6P6D6ATAfsy6IX?qid=20060801020808AAIG6jP
Also, for those that do wear hijab in normal everyday life, some of them don't know how to manipulate the avatars to get a hijab, and Yahoo does not provide hijabs for avatars.

Hope it helps you!

You sound quite ignorant!

The turban was worn and today is worn by Sikhs , Muslims, some Christians in the middle east.

I really think you are refering to the Hijab which is worn by some Muslim females.

I am a Muslim and i don't wear a turban and no i am not ashamed to wear one !

Siekh men wear turbans not Muslims. If you are referring to women wearing head scarfs not all Muslim women wear them. I dont have one on mine but that's because i didn't find one when making it. I always declare I'm a Muslim when giving answers. I am proud to be a Muslim and never try to hide the fact that i am.

I'm not ashamed of being Muslim. The majority of my yahoo answers are Islam related. If yahoo avatars had the scarf(hijab) option I would use it. In real life...I wear it proudly.

Why do you want to sterotype people? Turbans have nothing to do with Islam. They are essential for Sikhs.

For the same reasons I'm a Jew who eats bacon. It just doesn't matter that much to people like us who'd rather not be restricted and restrained by our faith. Or something.
