Under what circumstance do you want your computer to automatically shutdown? Power failure? Specific time of day?

Probably the only way is with a UPS running the proper control software. Check out http://www.apc.com

Make a shorcut by right clicking a space, then press new-shorcut

Then, put the location as "shutdown -s -t 0" without the quotes.

Go to scheduled tasks, but going to start-programs-accessory-system tools-scheduled tools

Then add the shorcut as a scheduled taskby adding a scheduled task. Put the time you want the computer to be shut down.

I'm presuming you mean when you press the power button you want it to shut down without having to go to START, SHUT DOWN.

Go to the 'Control Panel', click 'Power Options', click the 'Advanced' tab.

There should then be a choice button saying:
'When I press the power button on my computer'.
Set that to 'Shut Down'.

Hope that helps

not sure if this is what you want, but its a decent freeware that allows you to set the specific time you want it to shut down.
