Well, sometimes when my cat gets a little excited, he'll stare at you, not breaking eye contact and frantically move his head all around, like as if it was being restrained by something. It's a very fast, very spastic action, and at the same time he makes a sheep-like sound (not purring) that sounds like if you trilled your toungue with your mouth closed. It's a very strange sound. He also makes this sound when he's trying to get your attention. Not a meow, not a pur, but a sound like a sheep makes!
Thanks.

I have two cats and they make this sound a lot! I don't get it either but they seem happy all the time. Cats are spastic so they do spastic things. Sometimes mine will just chase each other relentlessly for an hour back forth in the kitchen. I don't get it. Kitties is crazy! Peace

Cats are very keen creatures. They definitely have heightened senses. They have various sounds and some are for nothing at all. My cat talks so to say if a moth or fly buzzes in the house. He wants to go on a hunt. He'll carry on and when I kill it I have to show him it is dead before he will be quiet. Then there is his I want a treat voice, his possessed voice; oh totally off the charts , his get up voice which is my alarm clock (7 days a week). Knowing your cat will allow you to recognize what his specific sounds indicate. He's just talking to you....learn to listen, pay attenion you'll soon know. Good Luck

He is play-hunting you, like you are his cat friend. He must like you a lot!
The chirping noise cats make when they're stalking their prey helps them hunt. It evolved to trick birds and small animals into thinking that there is some harmless baby animal making the rustling in the grass as he gets ready to pounce. The cat also catches the prey's attention and attempts to hypnotize the animal with its eyes.
Cats do this to other cats too, when they play. If you dart off, he will likely chase you, then you can chase him back later!

I have five cats. They bleat like sheep, and make all kinds of chirping and trilling noises, all the time! :-))
That is simply how cats communicate.
Yeah, mine do that, too. It just means they are excited.

Two of our five cats also do that. I believe it's simply their way of communicating with you. Ginger will do that when she wants outside, and at no other time. Lilly will do that when she's most affectionate, usually when she's about to go in heat.

This is one happy, happy kitty. He's "chirping" at you, which is another form of kitty talk. If he's trying to get your attention, then give him some lovin' or get a ball and roll it around with him. He wants to play and he's telling you he loves you.

My cat does this when he's sitting at the window or door and he sees birds outside... It's just what they do when they get excited...
