I was thinking about getting them 2. They look awesome! People tend to think that if you have them your dirty, but thats a load of crap. I would get really skinny ones. It depends on how you feel about cutting your hair short when you don't want them anymore. Thats whats holding me back

wait! Before you get real dreads, why not do a test run and get some cheapies from eBay.Or check my other suggestion below. Get a really nice oblong scarf, and a bunch of real hairpins. Then get some of this cheapie hair, and try it out first. Pin your hair into this piece using first the hairpins, then the scarf wrapped around where they end and you begin. Make sure you fasten the piece close to your head. That way, when you fasten the fake hair, it won't show. Then wrap the scarf around the part where the hair meets your hair, and tie underneath it all. Then put a few more hairpins on the edges of the scarf so it all stays in place. Actually I don't do real dreads, but love my fake ones. I also went to the beauty supply store (one that caters more to ethnic hair, not Sally's--they have little in the way of dreads), and got a whole pile of various braids and hunks of hair for under six bucks, sewed them onto a piece of black heavier material to make a sort of band, then fastened that, using the same hairpin and scarf method to my own hair and it looks fantastic.
You might find that going this cheap way might be all you want or need, and then you can have various hairdos, not just dreads.

I think you should do what you want and not worry about what others think or say about your decision. People will probably see you differently because you have a new look but it shouldn't matter you'll still be the same person.

Do what ever you want babe, but do it right. (and people in the know don't call them "dreads", its just locks.) Research first. For example there is no reason they should be dirty, its a common misconception, which leads to more people just getting the culture wrong.

If you like them, then get them.If you want another person's oppinion on it,I'll tell you that I think they look ragitty and disgusting. Its like you can never brush your hair and I heard that when you're done they shave it off cause its just a wad of hair twisted in to tubelike things. So yeah I don't think that you should get them but its not me thats getting it so go for it!

No, they spread disease and a distant relative of mine died from dreads. Yes you will start to be looked down upon like your dirty without good hygiene.

if you want to get them, then you should. personally, i think they look dirty and i'm not sure about the condition of your hair afterward. it also takes a lot of commitment to get them. i would never get them. i'd rather be bald. i'm not bald... but i'd rather have no hair than dreads.
