Diet Coke tastes different than regular Coke.

Coke Zero tastes EXACTLY like regular Coke, but without all of the sugar, etc.

I was amazed at the taste of Coke Zero. It is truly like regular Coke.

Maybe a lot of people were complaining about the the complete nastiness of Diet Coke. So the big guys decided "hey, let's make a new one that tastes just like real coke but stick a big fat zero in front".

:)

I believe that the Diet Coke syrup recipe has been different from the Coke recipe for years. When New Coke came out, it was the diet recipe with sugar. People hated it so they went back to "classic" coke. Coke Zero is the "classic" syrup with artificial sweeteners instead of sugar.

They don't want to replace Diet Coke, however, as loads of people still like it.

They thought:

"we need to come up with a new drink, something that tastes even more bland and nasty that diet coke"

Their biggest mistake was taking the coke outta the coke. Imagine the profit margins on that! And...no one would worry about the calories...they'd burn those off in seconds.

Yep - it's vital - that last calorie is the receptacle of all the taste. Coke Zero sucks the last remaining vitality and flavour from the thing.

I suppose improving the taste isn't enough just saying they did anymore. Changing the name as well makes for better advertising. It'll change again. It won't be enough in a few.

Maybe it'll be some collaboration of sorts like "Mellow Zero Dew".

Yum, my stomach's turnin already.
