I Ride a motorcycle.Lately; i noticed that a lot of car drivers either want to cut me off in traffic, close me in when i lane split in the freeway and just plain mean that they yell at me; "I hope you die you son of a !@#$^&!!!." Why all this hostilities towards us!?.Don't they even realize that we are actually REDUCING traffic by having one less car on the road? I already told my car driving friends that if half of the people started riding motorcycles to work(Lest you drive a Truck or a car for a living),There would be minimal or NO traffic at all whatsover. Am I wrong on suggesting this?

1. Jealousy. They have to wait for traffic, the biker doesn't.

2. Ignorance. They don't know bikers can lane split legally

3. Jealousy. They HATE traffic, but don't have the B***S to ride a M/C

4 Ignorance. They don't KNOW that the experienced rider has developed a sixth sense, and can ninety nine times out of a hundred guess what the guy in the car is going to do BEFORE he does it.

I don't hate motorcyclists, I hate idiots on bicycles who cause traffic issues because they can't pedal as fast as a car goes...as far as motorcylcist go you guys are fine, I could care less. Now when you get some goof on a motorcycle that thinks he is some kind of racer and weaves in and out of traffic at high speeds..it's his own fault when he gets splatted on the road!

Hey biker man,

The ongoing hostility between 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers likely owes its existence to the actions of disrespectful and aggressive minority (hopefully a minority) from both camps.

The biggest problem with motorcycles is that their smaller size and greater agility/acceleration simply present too much temptation for *some* bikers to handle. And because motorcycles are a small majority of vehicles on the North American road, car-drivers are often unprepared for the possibility of motorcycles suddenly entering their blind spots. It also helps that too many don't know they *have* a blind spot, let alone check it! And, of course, some car drivers would cut you off regardless of what you're driving!

While you and I may be the Emily Post and General Roberts of highway etiquette (you choose which title you want), I have myself experienced some dangerous situations because of other bad motorists, driving all manner of vehicles. Because of the near-complete anonymity of drivers on the road (until you have an accident and have to fork over your vitals), it's easy to take out pent-up anger against one driver against another.

As for motorcycles easing congestion on daily commutes? Visit any major city in south-east Asia and get back to me on that. I think that other options, such as carpooling and public transit offer the best alternative.

Praying for your safety and integrity on the road,

Your friend,

The Mindmelter

I don't think so . May be you have a unique case. Car Drivers hate a Motorcyclist if he/she is riding too fast or is trying to drive into a narrow gap where an accident might happen or brushes past a car.

Because if you make one wrong moved I could squash you like a bug. You make us nervous by squeeking in and out of traffic carelessly.

it is because of the idiot bikers out there that want to race, weave through traffic, and basically act stupid. they give ALL riders a bad reputation. it is the classic "one bad apple spoils them all" situation. not all bikers are bad, but the bad ones make everyone angry...
