As an athiest, I doubt it. Take away gods, and we would still be human.

1. Terrorist attacks may still happen no matter what.
2. The KKK killed African-Americans because back then, the country (or part of it) was racist. There were Christian slaveowners because they thought it didn't harm their spiritual life.
3. Hilter killed the Jews because he thought that everyone should believe. Hilter wasn't a "true" Christian.
4. You mean the Salem Witch Trials? The thing that happened 700 years ago? Learn history man, noone does that anymore.
5. Your question seems to be posed towards Christians, but now you are saying no religious wars. There still may be wars between Agnostics and Athesists, they are two different things.
6. George W. Bush is doing the best he can in his situation. It's not his fault he became president when the terrorists came.
7. 600 years ago....
8. Old Testament, more than 2000 years ago.
9. Serial Killers kill because they lose something of theirs of value, like family, and then it's everybody's fault.... No offense, but their minds are "scrambled" after their loss.
1. Where would this tax money go? The nation would become greedy, and therefore it would become survival of the fittest, Halo Deathmatch style.
2. There still would be different beliefs on how the world was created. (Evolution, Big Bang).
3. Who said we are alive? Without God, there is an absence of mind in our hearts. When we accept any relgion (not just Christianity, but any belief) that they believe in, it is respected, and should not be scorned, and the absence is filled.
4. There are Atheists in jail.
5. I am not an Atheist, but know a lot of them. They do not treat me well. Learn your facts.
Many of your points come before the time when slavery was banned. Use 21st century points, not 14th and 15th century. Not even B.C. points, because slavery was allowed back then. You see it in Egypt, when the Pharoah ruled, and he had slaves.

In the 1950s, it was believed that by the 1970s people would live more leisurely lives because of industrial automation and advances in technology. We'd have 4 day work weeks, 5 or 6 hour days, 3 to 4 week vacations, and pay would raise. The truth? You know the truth. What we fantasize about is not reality.
Your beliefs about religion are both unfounded and untestable.
1. Terrorists attacks would be for different reasons. We call it gang violence in urban America or "guerilla warfare" in third world nations.
2. Racism isn't rooted in religion, it's rooted in biological imperatives. "Pack" and "not-pack", as it were. Religion is used as a justification, but it's not the cause.
3. Hitler's Holocaust was more about control of capital and resources. In the post World War I Germany, where war reparations had turned the German economy into something that made the Great Depression look like a minor overdraft notice in someone's bank account, the Jews were more often seen as the "Haves" while the Germans were the "Have nots". Hitler keyed into this resentment and gave people a boogie man with which they could get back a measure of "control" over their lives and the country. By the way, Hitler was a Social Darwinist, a sociological theory in keeping with the Theory of Evolution.
4. There'd be killing of thousands of so called "not like us" instead. For example, the small-pox blankets used by the American Fur Trading company who decided genocide was preferable to economic competition.
5. Wars are fought over power (control of resources), not religion. For example, in Iraq the Shiites and Sunnis are arguing over who is going to control the oil and get the profits, not over which faction's version of Allah is going to reign supreme. Control of resources is the cause, religion is the justification.
6. George W. Bush would exist whether religion did or not. So would Jr. I believe they're a result of mating, not Christianity.
7. They started burning them alive because they refused to be Christian, but they killed them off because they were in the way. Control of resources was the motive, not religion. Religion is the justification.
8. Non Christians also had the cruel enslavement of human beings. Native Americans did it. The slave trade existed because human beings were a valuable resource to exploit. Just ask Wal-Mart execs. Or do you think human exploitation would stop just because there was no religion?
9. Serial killers exist because of both psychological and physiological dysfunction. Religion is a great justification for abuse, but it's not the cause of it. Abusers would simply find justifications for abuse, and therefore the creation of the psychological dysfunctions found in serial killers, in other things.
1. Tax shelters happen everywhere. Religion does not alter the amount of currency available, nor does it alter how it's used. Instead of tithing to tax exempt churches, people would give to tax exempt charities.
2. People don't fight about god(s). They fight about resources and who controls them (money, oil, food, water, land). They find that religion is better justification than greed. If greed were more politically correct, they'd use it instead.
3. This is an unsupportable value judgment on your part, particularly if you look at religions such as Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism which put more value on not harming any life than living a better life.
4. Once again, crime is usually about power and resources and occasionally about someone's psychological dysfunction. Atheists do not have external morality to stop them from breaking the law, all they have is their internal morality. What's to stop them if they think they can get away with it? Ask O'Hare's murder, the atheist, who thought the risk of jail was worth about 500,000 dollars.
5. That certainly explains why Stephen Hawking thinks we need to give up and move to another planet.

To the confused Black Atheist.
First thing you must recognise is that this earth we live on is not heaven. This (in a religious context) is middle ground, between heaven and hell. Your an atheist so you wouldn't have grasped the fact that if you believe in God the you Must believe that there is a devil. The earth its self is an example of this fact. That's why there are so many beautiful things in the world such as nature, love, compassion and acts of kindness from human beings to perfect strangers. Then, in the very same place on earth, there can be acts of violence. Everything that you have listed, comes down abuse of free will and poor interpretation of the Bible. I am a Christian myself, and my God does not promote violence towards others, or judging others. My God tells me to love thy neighbour and to treat others how you would like to be treated.
Frankly I am tired of people like you and 'so-called' religious fanatics claiming that God is the cause for all the injustices in the world, or that they a fighting in the name of God. The injustices are down to the decisions that people make.
People have the capacity to do good and evil. If it wasn't religion, then im sure it would be something else. The reason why religion is used as a scapegoat is because it has the capacity to draw the most amount of supporters towards a cause. Unfortunately leaders such as George Bush and Hitler, realised and capitalised on this.
The question that you should be asking is why you believe that because you are an athiest that if there was no God or religion, then people would do good? what is their motivation for doing good? People fear what they do not understand. Religion if anything, motivates people to do good e.g. the ten commandments. Religion also gives people a meaning to life. How sad would it be to just be born, live a little...then die? Maybe for you, this is the end...but for me, this is just the beginning.

Your rationalities cannot apply to everyone...There are alot of atheists who are in prison. People do not only fight wars about gods...it mostly about Land. Hitler was a former Christian, but renounced it and became atheist. Also, no Christians own any slaves. That passage is from the old testement, when slaves were considered ok. But Jesus came and brought the new law and "set the captives free"
Most serial killers have a strong religious upbringing..rebel against it, become atheist, and then become serial killers.

Boy do you have it backwards. Answers to 1st 1 through 9
1.Terrorist would actually be in charge of your entire life.
You would not be able to post this question...anywhere.
2.The KKK would be a secondary force for all people to deal with.
3.'Whoa' there 'Blackaetheist'...Hitler was not a 'Christian'...'a contrair' if anything he was the 'Anti-Christ'. And the KKK and Terrorist would unite to destroy all Jews and other "inferior races" ....such as yourself.
4.Without any God there would only be 'witches' to persecute.
5.Without religions there would only be room for "Ego" wars.
6.No George Bushe's....no just 'Osama's', grand knights, and dictators etc. etc.
7.No killing of millions of natives...I agree, there would be so many African Americans, Latino Americans, Lesbians, Gays etc. etc. for 'Atheist' to kill why should they bother with a few lousy Indian folk.
8. The bible I know doesn't 'instruct' on 'how to beat and punish slaves', it just informs us on how it was done through history by... peoples who beleived in 'false Gods' or worse by atheist who declared themselves 'God'.
9.Who says 'most serial killers have strong religious upbringing? You say 'far less serial killers'....I say more killing because of the stifling of the human spirit by the 'Atheist" agenda.
THE NEXT 1. THRU 5.
1. Well who is 'Gonna' pay taxes if not the law bidding working common person who goes to churches on the 'sabbath' after a hard week at the job to release strees in his existence?
2.No God to fight about... but plenty of other 'Agenda's' to fight over because churches, temples, and synagogs etc. are the most popular place for 'all men of good will' to meet and fight the inherent evil side of mankind...would you put it up to the senate or congress chock full of 'men of evil agendas and intents'?.
3.A 'better life' you say? How? If you cripple hope, faith, and charity in a man and give him only pragmatic existence you destroy all that is creative in him/her. Atheist are so full of their 'agenda' that they beleive their way is the only way and all men should think like them....not so my brother we have something called a 'spirit', this 'spirit' encourages us to think beyond, and 'outside the box'.
4. To many agendas, to much regimentation of others wills will lead to much greater strife and a whole lot more crime, the jails could not be built fast enough to deal with dissenters from the reigning political bodies in place.
5.READ 1. THRU 4. AGAIN...and if you still don't get it. STUDY hard your no.5...STILL don't get it? Well I'll spell it out for you...HOW CAN YOU BE A TRUE AETHEIST...if you beleive in heaven?

I agree to some of your predictions, however, some behaviors are just human nature, such as serial killers, and won't cease to exist jsut because religion is taken away. War will probably always be because if people aren't fighting for their God, they will fight over land, resources or something else. However, the best possibly you have included is not George Bush! Oh, the beauty of the thought!!!

You would still have crimes and conflicts since not all the wars and conficts originate from religion. An example of a different thinking is Buddism. Buddism tries to concentrate in the reality more than in imagination.

I'm truly sorry you are so angry and bitter. You are probably the most angry and bitter person I've seen on Answers. If you keep on the way you are headed, one split second after you die you know what heaven is like but you won't be there. You Will be on the wrong side of eternity but then it will be to late to change your mind. Why don't you change your mind now while you have a chance so that I will not have a chance to say "I told you so but you wouldn't listen."
