Calories come from various sources... protein (meats, poultry, fish, cheeses, etc.), carbohydrate (fruits, vegetables and grains), fat (olive oil, margarine, butter). All calories "count" but eating a high percentage of your calories from fat, regardless of the type, is unhealthy unless you're on a low-carb diet.

Many people say, "A calorie is a calorie," but of late they are finding that protein calories burn differently than processed carbohydrate calories. People attempting to lose weight find they do better by eating fewer "white" carbohydrates like bread, potatoes, pasta and rice because your blood sugar level stays more stable.

A gram of fat contains 9 calories, whereas a gram of protein or carbohydrate contains 4 calories. There has been a great deal of importance placed on the consumption of fat during the last 50 years. People have been advised to limit their consumption of fat to 30% of calories ingested. Calories from fat is a reminder of this limit and thus makes it easier for the consumer to eat healthy. Bad fats are saturated fats, trans fats, polymerized fats, and oxidized fats. They are classified as bad because they are harder to metabolized than other fats.

some food doesn't necessarily have fat in them but they still give you calories. you get calories anything your body can use as energy source. Calories from fat doesn't mean they are bad. but when you consume these products you also get "fat".
calories not from fat, comes from carbon-hydrates and proteins.

Think of this way: let's assume meat is only protein. When you eat meat your body gains calories. Excess calories are then converted in to fat in your body.
