Its questions like this that makes me sick, its obviously morons who....

1. would never serve their country (cowards).

2. They hate America.

3. And obviously know nothing about history.

In one battle alone, The Battle of the Bulge, the USA with an army of 600.000 fought the worst land battle in WW2 with 81.000 casualties, 19.276 which were killed, most of the casualties happened in the first 3 days.

Like i said, thats just one battle that they fought, they actually faced over half a million german troops.
And yes, i do know other allied troops were involved in this battle, but its not them that are being targeted by sh!t Bags.

So before you losers post questions like the one above, i hope you do some research.

What do you think of them?

Yeah, I get sick of people telling me that my country would have been over-run were it not for the actions of America. I get sick of Hollywood films that misrepresent history and portray acts performed by British soldiers as those of Americans, and barely acknowledge the fact.

I don't hate America, I probably know more than most people about history and no, I would not be willing to serve as a member of the armed forces - not because I'm a coward but because I do not wish to become a pawn of a government with no ability to protest military actions that are being undertaken against the wishes of my fellow citizens, and that damage my country. Oh, and I'm not a moron either, thanks.

I have the utmost respect for the contributions of US soldiers and every other country that fought in both world wars. It's because of that respect that I get upset when other people lie and belittle the contributions made by others. I have done my research, and I don't believe that the soldiers of any one country had a decisive impact on the outcome of the Second World War in Europe - all made valuable contributions.

Your link's not working, by the way.

In the 70's, British and German historians and military experts, many of whom were veterans of WW2, conducted a series of wargames, using intelligence and information from the time, and following the exact plans that would have been put into force if Britain had been invaded. The conclusions were that although suffering heavy losses, the British would have held up the invading Germans for about 7 days, and they would have got no further than 25 miles inland. By this time, the Royal Navy would have entered the English Channel and North Sea, and destroyed the German supply lines. After this the Germans would have probably given up on invading Britain, and concentrated on the USSR. So when Americans say "If it wasnt for us, youd all be speaking German" its bull. We would have been able to defend ourselves, but history went a different way.

mouse **** or what ever your name is, just so as you know i'm ladymoonlights' husband, no her mum did not run off with a yank, her mum and dad hadnt even met at the time of the war, her father served along side the Americans many times and found them to be ill disciplined, arrogant and couldnt hit the enemy if they were stood side by side.

As an obvious expert on WW2 you would be aware of who Hugh Dowding, Trafford Leigh Mallory and Keith Park are, though i very much doubt it, or Arthur Harris maybe? Guy Gibson?? any of these names ring any bells??? How about the Code breakers known as ultra??? The men and women who dicerphed the German Enigma machines. Another thing for you it was the British that warned the Americans about Pearl Harbour though they chose not to heed these warnings. It was the Americans that decided not to use Churchills Specials at D-Day, and look at the Sh!t they ended up in.

Have you also forgotten about the Candians, Austrailians, New Zealanders, Czechs, Poles, Russians etc etc that fought for our Freedom.

There is no doubting the American contribution overall was necessary and effective in the end but thing i find most amusing is that the Americans need us to hold there hands when they go to war (see Iraq and Afghanistan) otherwise if they dont they get there arses handed to them (see Vietnam) where as we can win a war 2000 miles from home with a fighting force smaller than an english town and win (see The Falklands.)

Who is it the yanks turn to when they need some one rescued from a war zone?? That right folks The British SAS!!! Kinda tells you something doesnt it!!!!

Yes i do, so why do Americans insist on saying that they won the War and try to discredit the Russian contribution? More of them were killed than all the other alliance troops in total. The war was a combined effort, no one country won it on its own. Do some Americans (please note i said some) think that the Brits sat on their backsides and waited for them to join in before going out and fighting? Please, my grandfather fought with the RAF from 1939 onward and i will ever be grateful for what he and all the other service man from whatever country did to make sure that i grew up with the freedom i have. The battle of the bulge was one battle and yes many Americans lost their lives but what about the fight for Stalingrad? how many Russians lost their lives in that? Do you hear the Russians saying if it wasn't for them we would all be speaking German? No we only hear that from the Americans. So get off your high horse no wonder people consider Americans on here morons.

Hi,

Your question seems a little confused; the question you refer to is not disrespecting US contribution to the war but merely questioning their recent overstatement of their contribution.

No one can doubt the Russian contribution either and of course they did not impose cripplingly unfair demands on Britain for their help.

The most decisive effect of US involvement was possibly supplying Britain with aircraft that once equipped with British engines where capable of a range capable of bombing German fuel manufacturing factories.

Thank you for your message. I think such hateful attitudes are as sad as war itself. And indeed war begins with angry thoughts towards other groups. So people who are truly disgusted with war, should be equally disgusted with themselves for preaching hateful words which cause division, violence and war. This is very tragic to me, that many do not see their own contribution to the conflicts they protest so vehemently.

I encourage you also to take the hurt and indignation you feel and to hurt for those who "know not what they do". If we seek compassion and understanding, for even the worst ignorance of those we deem our "enemies," we have hope to stop the cause of mutual distrust and disgust. I think its disgusting when Americans make out they were the sole victors in WWII.

My father was a WWII British army veteran (he was 52 when I was born) and he hated hearing Americans bragging about how they "saved our asses" in WWII - even though they came in 2 years late and only really came in because their country was attacked - they didn't actually care about Europe before then.

He refused to watch any American-made war films - he used to say "I'm not going to watch the bloody Americans wining the war again!" He found it was an insult to the sacrifices made by him and his comrades.

He really disliked Americans - he said that the British and other allied troops saw them as being arrogant, overpaid over dressed over sexed and "over 'ere" and the only people who liked them were the loose knickered British women who had affairs with them.

My dad was in the Libyan desert with the Eighth Army and his best mate received a "Dear John" letter from his wife back home, saying she was leaving him for a Yank. This poor guy was so destroyed by this he shot himself and my dad was the one who found him. I guess that didn't endear him to Americans either.

And when you consider the great sacrifice made by the "Few" - the brave boys of the Battle of Britain - this was fought and won a whole two years before the Americans even entered the war,

So as the daughter of an actual WWII veteran I can tell you now that the Alllies of the time were not keen on the Americans and for some - like my dad, the resentment lingered on a lot longer. Its not just modern day people who feel this way.

You need to do some research yourself methinks!

Oh and as far as "knowing nothing about history" well not only am I, as I said, the daughter of a WWII vet who heard it all first hand from him but I am a postgraduate in history. So sorry mate but you got that one wrong.
