There isn't really a simple answer. Have you had your dog for a while or is it a new addition to your family? Make sure they get lots of walks and cuddles, and praise them when they do something good. Get them a nice big juicy bone from your butcher every so often - but don't overly spoil them as they won't appreciate what they get. Make sure when they need time to themselves that they get it.

My dogs needs come before my own just as my kids needs came first when they were at home.
I talk to my dogs not at them and it's in a high lite happy tone.
Everyday is an adventure for my dogs. They know every park within a 50 mile radius of home and let you know when you're close to one and show great disappointment when one is passed by.
They know when I tell them they can't go with me they'll have a nice treat when I get back.Either a new toy or chew sticks or a juicy tid-bit saved from my plate if we go out to eat.
They go for a romp in the park daily before I go to work and we play again when I come home. They get lots of hugs and kisses and massages and xtra attention when they don't feel good.
I show my dogs more respect and consideration than I do most people and they are very happy dogs.

well several things, babygirl. my dogs get sort of bummed out when the weather turns cold. with snow on the ground its hard for them to get there exercise...so we play indoor games. they are lab mixes and they LOVE to fetch, no matter the obstacles, so i get my trashcan and two bricks and rig up different "traps" to hide the ball under. its so great! they are afraid to knock stuff over so they work together with agility to get the ball from under the trashcan propped up on the bricks.....oh when it falls its hilarious, you would think they had seen a ghost or something. it entertains them for hours, and it makes be be creative with them and keep them interested. It would help if i knew your breeds and the ages, but i could suggest a hoola hoop and a fluffy, squeaky toy for a small to medium breed dog. also if you haven't the space, just try talking to them..tell them about your day or make up stories of far away lands and beautiful dogs of the opposite sex. it is all in the tone since they cannot understand your words, at least not all of them...talk with a soothing voice...a high pitched voice gets the tails really going.
use treats to reward them and always change their water bowl out...they like to see that you "do" things for them.
I hope that helps, good luck with the poochies!

Your dog is like human because it get lonely and bored. Get some dog toys for him or her. Give love and attention. Take it for walks, has it been sick or injured a check up for sure. Maybe the dog needs a playmate.

You've just got to take the time to play and interact with your puppy. Initiate play time often and if your pup isn't too interested right away, he will likely take to it soon.
On another note, I have a 12 yr old American Eskimo and since she getting on a bit in years, she's more into just getting some loving rather than play time these days.

yeah i think playing with your pup & taking him/her on walks would b good. maybe your dog would like a dog park where he/she can play with other dogs.
