My computer keeps telling me it's all full, which I find hard to belive since I don't have much on it and it is a 60gig laptop... but that is for another question... anyway, thought I would delete some things and run the defragmenter to help it run smoother. When I highlight C drive in defragmenter and hit "defragment" it starts the "analyzing" process, then pops up with error message "The scan has been canceled because an error occurred in fil: C:\I386\ANGSAI.TT_" Anyone know how to resolve? Couldn't find this error message anywhere on web.... tried closing all unnecisary programs and processes, but no luck. Help! Thanks! :)

When you look at the properties of the disk, what size does it report (NOT what size you think you should have) and how much is used and how much is free.
To do a defragment you need around 15% free IIRC.
Have you run 'Disk Cleanup' from the properties page?
Have you been into Internet Explorer - TOOLS - Internet Options - (Temporary Internet Files) - Delete Files ?? - this may take a LONG time.
Have you been into your \Windows\Temp directory and removed all old/unwanted files from there?

The Cleanup Facility should remove most of these, however if you have certain websites that you log onto semi or fully automatically it is often not wise to block delete all of your cookies, as you will have to enter your info again when you next log on first time.

You can go into the cookies area and manually remove all those you don't recognise, but not for the faint hearted.

The error you mention is the XP cabinet directory and the file is a a True Type Font that has not yet been expanded.

Hi, maybe this will help, like you I always defrag, using the built-in defraging program. But here is an outside website, from Microsoft, Corp, with both a defrag as well as a virus scan eliminator program, OK? heres the site:

http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm

In the top 1/4 of the page, select any/all the available FREE scans, defragmentation programs.

Because it sounds to me like, my opinion only you realize, that you have a virus controlling your hard drive.
****This scan and wipe will eliminate them all.

lGood Luck!

That file is from you antivirus software - the file is locked which is causing the problem. Only suggestion I would have is to stop your antivirus from running before you do the defrag. If the problem persists perhaps trying to run chkdsk /f (use Start | Run) to ensure there are no errors in that area of the disk first may help.

first a certain percentage of your harddrive must be empty so defrag can have room ro move files around. second it sounds liek your error is cause by an error on your harddisk. click my computer, right click on your harddrive, then click properties,. click the tools tabe then clikc the icon that says check disk, or fix disk, or scan disk.. something liek that. you will have ot restart your computer and when you doo it will scan the hard for errors .. oh, and click the "automatically fix errors" box when you click the check disk icon. good luck
