What should i install to get a sound device? Where can i down load it from?

you first need to know what sound card you have. go to the computer manufacturer's website and go to their downloads section and type in your computer model and number. i.e. presario 5786
they should have the specs on your computer, they may even ohave the drivers for your sound card. if they don't write down your sound card's information then go to the sound's card's manufacturer's website to get the drivers. if they don't hav e it, use google to find the drivers you need and download. never underestimate the power fo a good search engine

Since you tried System Restore, I presume there is
a sound card in your computer. . Also presume you have
microphone and speakers connected to your computer.
If so (A) try C:/program files/Directx/setup/Dx diag.
you will get a report about your sound video systems.
(B)Click the Volume Control Icon in the Task bar
and check your Loudspeaker and mike are not muted.
(C) Programs/accessories/System tools/System
Information. Click components/Problem Devices.
If no problem device shown,
(D) settings/Conrol Panel/system/Device
Manager and check sound/video and
game controllers.
Hope you will get your sound devices working.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

try downloading drivers for ur make and model pc, if that doesnt work,get a new audio card,

is it a card or onboard? either way is to first go to the manufacturers website and download it or go to www.driverguide.com you have to register but its free
