Spirituality is the practical application of Divinty in your life.

I view religion as a social and political body/organization. I view spirituality as an inner experience of divinity. The two are not mutually exclusive. If you have a developed spirituality, it goes with you wherever you are - including religion. Also, most religions have ceremonies and traditions built into them that are rooted in spiritual reality. Unfortunately many of these rituals have become mechanical both for the religion itself and for the individuals. Yet, once again, those with a spiritually discerning eye can certainly get beyond the mechanics to the spiritual beauty.

Perhaps the only thing keeping some religions alive is that there are so many spiritual people involved with them.

I'd actually go a step further than CG and say it depends more on the individual than the religion. Anyone can pay a religion lip service; anyone can go and follow a religion's rituals and decrees and truly believe it and still not necessarily have a spirituality. One can aslo have a deep spirituality alongside a religion (or, more accurately, within) or a deep spirituality without one at all.

Religion is the wrapping, the spiritual is the gift. They compliment each other.

No matter how basic or simplistic any new formed cult is, claiming to be 100% "spiritual" and 0% religious, they will form their own style of religion because it is human nature to do so.

Rituals will be formulated, itineraries will evolve. For example, a "bible church" forms in someones basement. Everyone agrees they will not be religious at all. Who decides what hyms will be sung, or what music will be played, if any? How much of the bible will be read? What parts of the bible? What will be the pattern or itinerary? So religion, the outer wrapping, is inescapable, and there is nothing sinister about it.

I am a Christian who has nothing to do with religion! Christians are spiritual people not religious. True Christians that is, those who have a relationship with the Father.

Religion = all about how you can "find your way to God"
Spirituality = all about how God comes to you.

Religion = all about rules and regulations
Spirituality = all about a one-on-one relationship with God.

Religion = all about works (working your way to God's favor)
Spirituality = all about grace (coming to God just as you are, and receiving forgiveness and love.

Religion = judging others and putting others down who don't believe the way you do.
Spirituality = looking at everyone through God's eyes, overlooking their faults and loving them anyway, whether they believe the same way you do or not; whether they are hurt you or love you back.

Although one really should go hand-in-hand with the other, the sad fact is that "vs" is the reality.
