I'm very picky about my beer... Budweiser or such with Born On dates is a little too flat for my taste.

Where you live is important because it matters how long the beer has been stored by the time you buy it. I loved Dos Equis when I lived in Colorado, but in Indiana it was stale tasting so I switched to Kilian's Irish Red. In Texas I switched to Shiner Bock, and in New Jersey I Drink Yeugling.

When they are fresh all these beers taste very similar. The fact that people in the area didn't consume the other beers made them either go stale on the shelf or long shipping where it got cold then heated up or something of that sort ruined them.

Ideally set your fridge at 34-36 degrees Fahrenheit. That will be high enough to keep anything from freezing, but very close to freezing so that things will keep longer. This goes for more than just beer... you can pick up a fridge and freezer thermometer at Lowes or Home Depot for around $2. You might be surprised. If your fridge is over 40 degrees, your food and drinks are spoiling slowly. *YUCK*

On the beer Topic, I highly recommend buying a pair of thick glass mugs from Wal-mart and keeping them in the freezer. They will make even lousy beer taste SOO much more refreshing!

WOW! Do not listen to "minijumbofly" below... he obviously KNOWS NOTHING about beer!

RE:
How long can a beer stay in my fridge before it goes bad?

I assume you want a serious answer along the way some where?

Can beers will last up to 10 years in the fridge and bottle beers about 2 years. I hope you don't plan to waste that space and beer and energy just to find out though.

You're fine for a long time. That's how beer from other countries makes it to the U.S. (boats, not always chilled) and how booze is transported across this country. Not kept icebox cold 24/7. Toss it in the fridge and then drink up! or shot-gun it warm?

Many beers benefit from extended aging. Your average store beer may have a mere shelf life of 3-6 months, tops -- before quality begins to degrade. But if your talking about vintage beers, barleywines, imperial stouts, Belgian strong ales, lambics, old ales and so on, age only helps. Ideally, any type of good beer can be stored for a year or two.

You had it long enough to put it in the fridge? A beer? do you mean 1? A lone soldier by his-self, 11 of his buddies went before him to pave the way for their comrade just to be left in the cold solitary confines of the fridge. That's prison man! FREE the prisoner, celebrate and chug like you never chugged before, and when all is said and done, you've just had 12 beers, send the wife or G/F back to the store for reinforcements, the battle has just begun, tell her not to forget the Cheetos this time.

About 3 months is the average expirary length. I've had beer stay good for 6 months in my fridge. When in doubt just taste it. If it tastes or smells skunky then throw it out. Don't try it if it's cloudy.

I'm cleaning out my fridge today. I found a few bottles of Molson and Moosehead buried in the door that were from my 40th birthday party. I'm now 61. In other words, it's 21 years old. I opened one, and it tasted OK, but will it get me sick? Anyone know?
