The worms are white and short from his feces. I just noticed the the other day. He is an outside dog only.

those worms you describe are white and about the size of a grain of rice, right? they are caused by fleas.
take your dog to a vet. it only takes one dose of med to get rid of them. but you have to keep the fleas off your dog.
1. spray your yard
2. use Frontline
3. use Fleabusters in your home www.rxforfleas.com
this works! i know because i have been through this years before. now i have 7 indoor dogs and no fleas!!

Go on google and type in what the worms look like and find what type of worms they are. Some are caused by fleas. Sometimes dogs pick up the eggs when they eat grass or eat another dogs waste.etc.etc.
After you have found out what type of worm it is buy wormer pills for that certain worm.(Wal-Mart has the cheapest and it works) And keep trying until the worms are gone.

What you are seeing are tapeworm segments, and while one type of tapeworm is carried by fleas, there is another type that is not. You need to take a fecal sample to your vet as there may be other worms present and get your dog treated.

If you get your dog on heartguard medication for heartworm, it will also take care of the round worms. When we got our puppy, the vet said if we began heartguard right away, there would be no need for further "worming".

Just go to the feed store an get some wormer it is 2 to 3 dollars cheap an it will be done right.
