Sorry porky, the poor will be with us forever and their numbers will grow as more and more poor are born every. Bummer.
If it were up to you, you will kill them off for being poor. It's not an original idea - Charles Dickens chronicled the life of poor people in most of his work ex (A Christmas Carol).
Me? I prefer extending a helping hand.

We have losers with jobs too
We have rich losers, poor losers, religious losers, non-religious losers. Losers come in all stripes.
The fact that some people misuse the welfare system does not mean the system does not have merit or that there are people who do not need the help getting back on their feet.
Perhaps if you turned off the TV, and went out into the real world and maybe talk to some of these "welfare losers" you would have better ground on which to speak from.

They are not losers just having a hard time in thier lives. The welfare teaches them a job they can work at to make money to live on. I know because I was on welfare in my younger days. The trouble is the dads skipe out and dont help raise the kids by sending money home for them. And if the mother does want to work by the time she sends the kids to day care or has some one come in there is not much to live on. Unless you have been down that road dont shoot you mouth off.Lock them up and who will take care of the kids?you are full of it..Signed. Free Little Lillie

I fail to see what you being an Atheist has to do with people on welfare. The truth is, it isn't as simple as just going out and getting a job. There are more people that needs jobs than there are job openings. Some people can't afford to go to college, so the only jobs they can get are minimum wage ones that are not enough to live off. Some people have health problems, or else have family members with health problems, that prevents them from working to their full potential.
You have to see the full picture of why some people are on welfare. Once you do, we can begin looking at ways to help these people back on their feet.

Umm. Society has an obligation to care for those less fortunate.
Kill or be killed. Eat or be eaten. Survival of the fittest. Unless YOU are part of the less fortunate, huh?
Some "losers" aren't capable of working. Some were permanently injured while working, but the employer didn't have insurance. Some were born with less ability.
I pray that our society never deteriorates to the level proposed in your "question".

You seem to be the 'loser' here. There are many people who are on welfare because they are unable to work. They may have ill family members that they must take care of, or they may be ill or physically unable to work themselves.

If churches paid their share of taxes they wouldn't have to be on the street.
