Mohamed was so obseesed to have a son thaty his Allah had to console him(Sura Alkoser),but still he distributed all the Titles among his family as Fatima would be the Queen of all women in paradise and his two grandsons Hussan and Hussain would hold the title of kings of all the youths in paradise .It was dead sure that Had he a son,then he did,nt annouce himself as Last Prophet.

[52:21] And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.
This is the treatment of a normal faithful person. What about a prophet. Allah honors prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by uniting him with his family and by giving his family some of the best titles for more honor.

Also Mary, the mother of Jesus has a special place too in the eye of God.

This is all about the FATE, whatever GOD has written for everyone, NO ONE can change. Regarding prophets, whatever they say, it is the command of GOD, HE choses whomever HE WILL, nothing to do with human desires.
