This is sort of a multiple part question....
If you believe God put everything and everyone one on this earth, then is it safe to assume that God also put medicinal properties into many of the existing plants for our use?
Furthermore, if you believe this then are you also agaist using marijuana, either by smoking or injestion? Because those are the only two froms from which a person is able to recieve the medicinal benefits.
I need to ask this because it seems that a lot of Christians are anainst the use of marijuana.

I would like all of you to know that there have been recent studies that has shown that marijuana can and has actually slowed, and in many cases, completly hindered the growth of cancer cells. I wish you people would get the facts before you judge. Did you know that you can get a perscription for MARINOL whos main ingrediant is THC (that which is found in marijuana.)
Please please please get your facts straight.

If you could show a REAL medical use for marijuana, other than just to get high maybe you could get some support.... Jim

Yes, it would be logical and safe to assume that since God created everything, it was part of His grand design to put medicinal properties into plants. However people misuse those things. This is why opiates are illegal as well, to prevent crimes being committed by people desparate to obtain these drugs by any means; IE, pay for their habitual misuse. I agree, however, that marijuana SHOULD BE and MUST BE legalized and supported completely, for certain human ailments such as glaucoma, cancer and some other things that need a great deal of pain control. I am a Christian, and somewhat conservative, and those who disagree, I challange you. Give me a GOOD reason why. Glaucoma costs a lot of people their vision, and it is a proven fact that marijuana gives relief. If you want to use the specious argument that its because its an illegal controlled substance, than also ban all opiates, methamphetamines (some derivatives are in over the counter cold meds, etc, so be careful before choosing this option), and alcohol (as the US gov't foolishly did in the 1920's). If it was up to FDA at present, even aspirin would be a "controlled substance" that could only be obtained by doctor's prescription.

Marijuana is currently used for medicinal purposes. I find most oncologist don't prescribe this unless the patient is extremely anorexic and then often they still don't use this drug because better drugs are available. It is supposed to help glaucoma as well...yet, we have better drugs available again.
Foxglove has been known since the early Romans to slow the heart and make the contractions more powerful. I wouldn't blindly ingest digitalis or foxglove unless I had congestive heart failure or a heart arrhythmia and I would use it only under a doctor's care. Otherwise, it would be suicide. Why would I blindly use a hallucinogenic if I hadn't experienced extreme weight loss and loss of appetite with cancer unless I had glaucoma? Taking a drug you don't need when you do not need the drug isn't smart and yet, that happens on the street every day.
Yes, I do believe we have what we need on this earth to survive. If research shows marijuana slows cancer growth, it may be used more in the clinical setting.

The fact that God created something does not mean that it necessarily has a medicinal purpose behind it. So I would not adhere to your basic premise.
However, I think that the evidence for the benefits of marijuana as a medicinal aid, out weigh the possible negative affects of the high it produces.

Sounds like you're trying very hard to rationalize the recreational use of marijuana into "medicinal benefits".

If filtered cigarettes are KNOWN to cause cancer of the lungs, what does unfiltered weed do to the human lungs?!
You can get the medicinal chemicals from a prescription from your doctor anywhere in our nation.
Smoking foreign objects is simply bad health advise.

the journals i read stating the health hazzards of marijuana have no leanings or roots in Christianity or any religion for that matter. i guess one has to weigh the pros and cons of "medicinal" things.. if the risks are more than the benefits, doctors and scientists will vote against its usage or propagation, whether they are --whatever religion they belong to..
peace, man! (i actually tried, and for me it's not worth it.)

in islam it would probably be allowed for medicinal porposes, like slowing down cancerous growths but its use as a recreational drug would,i believe,be opposed by muslims and christains alike

if marijauna is a" weed" that has to mean it sprouted up after sin, like thorns on the rose bush. i'm not denying that it has medicinal properties to it, but if you grind the leaves down and rub them on the outside of your ailing body parts(arthritis) it works just as well. i cant believe that any thing that came from the result of sin is good to ingest.
