I think that the term "believer" is very subjective and can means something different depending on who is speaking and the context of their words. I think primarily a believer is thought of as a Christian, though when I am talking to someone from my own faith and they say believer, I assume they mean someone of our faith. We hear it on TV ("Oxy Clean made a believer out of me!") and the old Monkees song "I'm a Believer".
It's similar with the term, the Faithful. A Believer is one who believes (though the term does not indicate what the person believes) just as the Faithful are those who have Faith - but in what, the term does not convey, but the context of the statement often does.
Peace!

Positive, no matter from which religion they are [ not false beliefs ], that this is such beatiful when a person in lost can find hope, and to implement faith and live to ther fullest. As a Christian i am, I don't think believers is not the ultimate form applicable to Christianity or acceptance to Lord Jeses and God. English words can be quite tricky sometimes ;)

Atheist - means nothing
Buddist - means nothing, they practice Buddism, not believe in it
Muslim - means Ali is God, Mohamed is only prophet
Christian - means faith in Jesus alone for salvation
Catholic - means faith in Jesus plus works for salvation
God says "whosoever believes" has eternal life. But you must believe the right thing (John 3:16). So you are right, being a "believer" means different things to different people. As a Christian, I like these Biblical terms better:
- Christian
- born again
- born of God
- baptised by the Holy Spirit
- children of God
- righteous
- saints (holy)
- forgiven
- have eternal life
- body of Christ
All of these and more describe those who have placed their faith and trust in Christ alone for salvation

To me believer is a positive word that some have taken and put a negative spin on...I feel in my heart and soul down deep that you gotta believe in something or else you are out there in space with nothing to tether you...nothing grounding you. We all need God to keep us nourished and keep going. God put us here for a reason and it is in finding that purpose and reason that makes living worthwhile.

The word "believer", to me, connotates hope. I get the same mental image when I hear that word as I do when I hear the word "seeker"--why would one seek unless one believed there was something to be sought out? Why would one believe if not for hope?

To me, "believer" is one who has opened his heart and his mind to the love and mercy of the one true God, and has accepted salvation thru His Son, Jesus.
I prefer the term "Christian". The term "believer" has been badly abused in the worship and pursuit of the many false gods.

To me believer is someone who believes is a greater power. Believing in something that is greater than you gives me a sense of hope and peace, that there is someone looking out for me and protecting me.
