It is best to speak to an Army Reserve Recruiter who can give you the details on what you want to know. However, the Reserves do help with schooling, you do not pay to join the Reserves, you get paid (you volunteer to be a Reservist, go through the same training as the Regular Army, attend drill once a month and Annual Training two weeks a year), and depending on the different units in your areas and what kind of jobs you want training in will depend on what unit you end up serving with.

First off, you do not have to pay to get in to the reserves. The will help you out with college money through the GI bill(about $1,100 per month), but this will require a six year enlistment in the reserves. As for where you will be stationed...the norm is for them to try and place you at a reserve center within 50 miles of your home, this depends on your MOS and the locations of reserve centers in your state. Its a serious commitment and you need to realize that it is probable that you will deploy to Iraq at least once in those six years...so think it over REALLY hard...good luck.

The army reserves will pay for your college. You don't have to pay to get into the reserves. For the most part you pick where you want to go. It depends on what field you want to go into. Just remember you can always be deployed.

The below link should provide answers to most of your questions.
Whatever you do please remember that the United States is at War with Iraq and anyone that joins the Reserves and Guard, just like the Active Duty Military is likely to be sent to Iraq to fight in that war.
This was not always the case. Back in the 60's people like GW Bush joined the Guard or Reserves to avoid going to Vietnam.
With the giant reduction in military forces since Vietnam, the Reserves and Gard are often the first to be sent into combat.
Good Luck!

If you are considering joining the Reserve then you will be joining the reserve unit in your area so in that aspect yes you get to pick where you go. Once in the Unit you will go where ever the Unit is sent.
If the sole reason you are considering joining is for the college money then the militray is not for you. It is a great incentive but should not be the sole reason you join. If it is you will probably end up being dissapointed with your choice

You don't sound like a good candidate for the military. Sorry, but you would be better off in some other field.
