I brought the dog to the vet and she says the dog has some kind of virus in his stomache, and its only a 30% chance of him living. I will bringing the dog to the vet for the whole week for treatment. Im not sure what fatal virus this is... This is in China, and lots of dogs are getting this virus this year... Does anyone know what this virus is called in English? Quan Wen Re is the Chinese name. Does anyone know what this means? Im not Chinese... And if anyone knows is this common in dogs, and whats the chances of dogs living with this virus? Thanks

I think the vet you took him too is referring to the Parvo virus that dogs catch... ( its a cat virus really )
Yes its very bad and dogs have been known to die from it IF they are not treated.
Did you get anti biotic for the dog...This vet should have explained this to you better and gave u a leaflet in English.
If not see if a local pharmacy will sell you some antibiotics for children. ( IE baby penicillin) . Dogs can survive this if treated right and soon. I think the vet you took the dog to is useless.. really . Go to another one..and read up on the Parvo virus on the web.

There is a dog parvo virus and a cat parvo virus. They are only transferable between the animals of the same species...cats to cats or dogs to dogs.

Canine parvovirus is deadly a huge percentage of the time. Aggressive treatment can be used, but there is no real cure...even the preventative only keeps them resistent at a percentage...not 100%. First series is something like 33%...second series around 60% and the thrid and final about 95%.

I had a pit bull puppy who contracted it as we were moving from one state to another here in the U.S. They can pick it up from the ground another sick dog has walked over. Once I found out what it was the vet told me there wasn't much hope. She had a less than 50% chance.

The trick was hydration. I took pedialyte (don't know what it would be called there) and syringed into her 3 CCs every 15 minutes for 24 hours. Fortunately, we had just moved and I didn't have a job yet. When she threw up what I gave her, I gently gave her some more until it stayed down. The next day was every 30 minutes. She began to get stronger and began to fight the syringe. By the end of the week I was syringing a mixture of pedialyte and baby food. She lived to be 13 yrs . old. There is hope...but you HAVE to be diligent and aggressive with it...IF THIS IS PARVO!

It attacks the stomach and intestinal tract...so stools will be bloody and smelly...she may start throwing up blood...and her breath has a very different smell. Almost like rotting meat.

Good luck with your baby!!

sounds like it could be parvo, here in the U.S. there are vaccinations against this, if this is what the dog has. You could also try giving the dog some pedialyte (its what they give babies that have vomiting and diarhea, it replaces electrolytes that the body loses, when they become dehydrated. Also try making rice/hamburg misture. You cook the hamburg til done rinse all the grease off with hot water and mix with cooked rice, give this in small amounts, this helps settle the tummy. Good luck and hope this helps.

It is probably Parvo (in English). There's a lot of information on the internet. Many years ago,we had a puppy who had Parvo. She survived and lived to age 13. Good luck!!
