Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is a chemical used as a flavor enhancer and meat tenderizer. It is often used in Asian foods. People who are sensitive to this chemical usually get headaches after eating food containing MSG. Gluten is the protein part of wheat. Some people, those with Celiac disease, have an allergy to gluten. Gluten is used to make seitan, a meat substitute. Gluten also helps hold the air pockets that are found in baked goods. Kneading bread develops the gluten.

No they are not. MSG is based on glutamic acid. Gluten is a protein found in flour.
Interestingly, both a substances that are known for high sensitivity with MSG being linked to MIgraines and other forms of headaches and gluten sensitivity being linked to Celiac disease.

Nope. MSG is gluten-free. In the US it's always made from corn, which is also a common allergen btw. (If you're buying something imported, you might want to verify it's GF status by contacting the company.)
