Do you all just believe what you want? Martin Luther just made up some stuff and took out what he didn't like, started a new denomination and now everybody believes in that?
Kinda sad! It seems as though that everybody starts off with the catholic church, takes out what they don'y like about it and start a new church! Baptists, Methodist, Lutherans, Protestants etc.
are just trying to make things easier on themselves when in reality they are just ignoring the real facts.

It sounds like your head is in the right place, but your heart is not. Despite the uneducated repetition of some anti-catholics on this forum, the Catholic Church was the church founded by Jesus Christ. As much as they try to point out the sins of churchmen or misinterpret scriptures to their own destruction, the facts - as you stated - still remain. The true church CANNOT apposticise - Jesus promised that it wouldn't. And the sins of some clergy doesn't make doctrine untrue.

All this being said, you can't come at people with attacks. It turns them away so that they will never listen to your arguement. If you charitably answer their objections, maybe they will see the truth.

For those of you who think that the Catholic Church is not the original church - please visit my website.

Get your facs right before you start accusing people of making false religions. I am a Roman catholic which you call the "first" church. It isn't. there were many religions before catholicism. The Greek/Roman Gods and Goddesses. Let's not forget about the Native American's gods. There is no better religion. About Martin Luther, he didn't take out what he didn't like from the religion. Let me ask you this. If you are a Catholic than you believe that when you go to confession you are absolved from your sins, correct? Well, Martin Luther believed this. He wasn' protesting against the hardships of the religion or the strictness of it. He was protesting the selling of indulgences. If you don't know what they are they are a replacemet for confession. So instead of penance you pay the Church so they can build a huge church. The Baptists, Methodists, Lutherns, Protestants, etc. weren't changing the rules to make things easier on themselves. They just thought the Church was corrupt, had too much power, and needed to make reforms. By the way Martin Luther didn't want to start a revolution, only wanted to reform the Church. He never believed anyone despite a few monks would see his ideas,b ut because of the printing press ideas spread more easily. Toodles!

Trust me, we aren't making it any easier on ourselves. I have seen many beleivers become missionaries and go into other countries, where the Bible is banned and witness and minister to those in those countries. They face death, imprisonment, and torture, because of whose name they come in. Yet they do it becase they Lord has called them to it. I have been to Catholic churches and never seen them share about missions. It is an important part of why we are here. It was also something Jesus said.

The Catholic church you are speaking of is not the one that was originally started. Look up the apostles creed and go from there. Look in God's word, and what the apostles say. There is a lot that Catholics practice that not even Jesus or the apostles practiced. It is right there in front of your face.

A couple of the denominations you mentioned have sat down, and accepted certain things that Christ said was sin, but they have to answer for God for that. The Baptist have problems too. I think in part that the problems we have in each denomination, is the division that there is on doctrine. I understand the stances, but I believe all denominations could suck up their pride and work together more often to reach people for Christ.

Catholicism is an entirely different religion, not denomination. Catholicism was started as a counterfeit to Christianity to decieve people. Why do you think there are so many different saints to pray to. Scriptures doesn't say to pray to any of them or to have them pray for you. It reminds me of the Romans when they had all their gods and would pray to different ones according to what the need was. It's just been mondernized

Every "christian" basically creates his own cult by cherry-picking elements from an established denomination.

As for the Catholic Church being the "first" - historically, it was really just the first christian cult to consolidate power and begin persecuting others. There were plenty of "heresies" that were just as old or older.

Before the Catholic church were people of The Way. They were Biblical Christians. (Of which I am one.) So are all Christians today who do not follow the traditions of men but fully rely on Christ and the apostle's teachings.

THere's one problem here... you're ASSUMING that the catholic church was first. And if the catholic church has gone off track, it may take a protestant religion to bring it back in line. I mean... the Jewish religion was first, right?

OK History lesson. a long long time ago there was one Christianity. Then east and west had some political differences and of course church is everywhere, so they decided to split up. After that we have Catholics and Orthodoxes.
