Why? Are you missing it? :-D
I didn't get mine back until 11 months with the first one and am going on 10 months with no period with the second. We did and do a lot of night nursing--maybe 2x a night. I have heard that once your baby starts solids at around 6 months, you need to plan a back up method if you don't want to get pregnant. With the first one I didn't and got pregnant when she was 13 months old, with this one I'm on the mini-pill.
Postpartum depression is a clinical name for a group of symptoms usually more severe than feeling hormonal. If you are listless, feel hopeless or helpless, want to sleep all the time, can't make decisions, are no longer interested in the baby or have thoughts of harming the baby get help right away. Your medical provider can help with medicine to counter the effects.
A lesser degree of depression often occurs with many new moms. Fatigue, anxiety and hormones all play a part. If you are feeling like this, it is important to take steps to prevent isolation, take good care of your health and ask for help. Mom's groups are as much for the mom as the child. You need to eat well, sleep when you can and give yourself grace to adjust to your new role. If someone offers to help, let them. Give yourself slack about your house cleaning, fashion sense and hosting abilities. :) They all come back in time--or so I hope. Just kidding. Take time to yourself each day, even if it is 10 minutes to walk, shower or play on Yahoo Answers.
It was really hard for me to figure out my place in the world as a new stay at home mom when my first child was born. It took almost a year for me to get it all figured out inside. Now, we have two and I have found lots of stuff to do with them that gets me out of the house and I also have time for myself every week that my husband has both girls and I go do my own thing. It's only a couple hours a week but it makes such a difference!
By the way, good for you for breastfeeding!

You could be experiencing post partum. You can ask your doctor, or talk to your baby's doctor about it at the next well baby check up. As your baby starts to rely less on breastmilk your period should come back. I'd say in another couple of months. A great website for breastfeeding information is: www.breastfeeding.com
Also: www.kelleymom.com and www.lalecheleague.org
Hope that helps. Take care.

ahhhh to Hormones, LOL. Getting your period there is really no answer for that. I have 6 kids and got my period at different months during breastfeeding. You may want to go speak to your Dr. about the depression and to have your hormomes checked. Good Luck. And great job breastfeeding for 5months!!!

OK, yes you could be going through post partum, and yes, when you give birth, you lose alot of you hormones when you give birth, and your period is going to be messed up for a while, and you need to get back on birth control to get it fixed back to normal... and if you feel like you can't handle the baby,you need to give the baby to someone else... so you don't do anything you don't want to do...

Breast feeding not only delays period but also acts as a natural contraceptive method. the period delay is the responsible for contraception
Mid-night nursing is very important & nursing should be 6 times per day {at least} & lasts for 60 min per day {at least}
When the first period starts.........Now u need a medical consultaion to choose the suitable method safe for u & ur baby.
Wish u good health
Don't worry for the delay of period............it varies from woman to other but the average is 6 monthes

#1 The only way to guarentee that you don't become pregnant is to not have sex. I didn't have my first period after I had my baby until 6 months. I've found this is quite common with everyone I know.

i also did breastfeed my babies and i will only have menstruation after i stop breastfeeding them...and i breastfed them for 1 year. being depressed sometimes is normal esp. if you're a first time mama....becoz of lack of sleep....and your freedom to go anywhere is limited if not stopped totally esp if you are into pure breastfeeding just chill out honey u will get used to it...just think of it this way breast milk makes ur babies more healthy and more resistant to diseases or infections..ur pedia will explain to u why so ask them too...and by experience i can say that its more depressing and tiring for a mom to take care of a sickly baby so just be thankful that they are healthy

Breastfeeding doesnt slow the process, it stops the process. You should not expect to resume your periods until after you wean the baby.
